The Hyde & Sleep mattress – what is it?
It’s a memory foam mattress comprised of three layers of mixed foam. All-in-all it’s about 20-25cm in depth (depending whether you choose the Next-Gen Memory Foam or Next-Gen Memory Foam Plus mattress).
The Plus version of the mattress has a top layer of 3.8cm, providing support, contouring to your body and cooling the temperature of the mattress thanks to a natural cooling balm.
Under that you’ll find a thin layer (1.9 cm) of cushion and bounce. The last layer consists of 17.8 cm of high-density polyurethane foam, adding support and relieving pressure.
The regular version has 4 cm upper layer of memory foam and a base layer of castellated support foam of 16 cm with gaps in it to provide air ventilation.

Kieran MacRae from The Dozy Owl writes that if you have only slept on spring mattresses before, memory foam might take some getting used to as it doesn’t have too much bounce. That being said, it has its bonuses:
Where memory foam does excel is if you sleep with a partner who has a tendency to move around and wake you up. It absorbs movement so if your partner is moving you will hardly feel a thing, this includes them getting up in the morning and coming to bed, you’ll hardly know they’re there!
Joel from The Mattress Reviewer was impressed by how the different foam layers supplemented each other, providing both comfort and good support.
Usually I find softer mattresses sink heavily with my body shape but this wasn’t the case here, as I was able to switch sleep positions with ease and feel the dynamic support and comfort.
However, he has a word of warning for those who like to spread out in bed: “I have experienced better edge support on other mattresses – so if you are in a couple and one of you is a sprawler, this may be a very slight irritant.”
Will, the author and editor at Memory Foam Doctor found the mattress extremely comfortable and like The Dozy Owl he also praised the minimal motion transfer. He pointed out that perhaps a more solid and durable bed frame is needed with the mattress to get the maximum comfort and support.

Sleepopolis was pleasantly surprised how much support the soft memory foam mattress really offered.
Whilst sleeping on my stomach, the mattress was able to adjust to my lighter limbs as well, helping to avoid that awkward angle and maintain consistent spinal alignment. Sleeping on my side and back was enjoyable as well.

“After much research and review reading, we purchased the Hyde & Sleep mattress and pillows. From the first night of using it we have had the most comfortable sleep ever. “I have slept like a queen for the last week. It is the perfect compromise between firmness and softness – I sink into it, but not too much. “My issues with the mattress were it didn’t appear to have any edging, so I always felt I would fall out, then a visible hump appeared down the centre with both sides dipping significantly. I bought this Hyde & Sleep brand over others on price alone. A mistake on my part.”
Even though Hyde & Sleep have put in a cooling layer on their mattress, it pays to know that memory foam can be too hot for some – as Michelle points out: “After 2 nights sleeping on the mattress my husband found it far too hot and was unable to sleep.”

Many review sites and owner reviews point out the great value of the Hyde and Sleep memory foam mattress. It’s clearly at home with some of its global counterparts at a more affordable price.
